Course Overview
This course is intended to give beginners & novice users a good grounding in the basic features and concepts of Apple DVD Studio.
Course Contents:-
Learn To:-
- Set up & manage projects & media content
- Use DVD Studio Pro to create interactive DVD projects to a professional standard
- Build & burn DVD's
- Use Apples A-pack software
- Use Apples Subtitle Editor software
- Use Adobe PhotoShop to create & design Menus
- Use Apples Final Cut Pro to create motion menus

As Apple's professional DVD authoring package, DVD Studio Pro is widely used in professional commercial DVD production.
This two day course will familiarise participants with DVD studio Pro's interface & features, as well as giving training in content creation, including PhotoShop skills for creating menus, compositing techniques for motion menu creation, & video encoding advice. The course will not only leave the participant able to use DVD Studio Pro to an advanced level, but will also give a solid grounding in the full DVD production process.
The training is hands on and takes the form of authoring a basic DVD project (With still menus, motion menus, buttons, multi-angle video, multiple audio tracks & a slide show URL links, subtitles, CSS encryption and basic scripts). It will take the student to a level of proficiency and understanding that will allow them to get the most out of DVD Studio Pro, allowing them to maximise their creativity when authoring DVDs.

Day 1:- DVD Authoring workflow overview
- Creating assets for a DVD project
- MPEG 2 Video encoding, Audio creation, Graphic & menu creation, subtitles creation
- DVD Studio Pro interface overview
- Graphical view, project view, property inspector & preview window.
- Basic Authoring with DVD Studio Pro
- Setting disc properties
- Importing video, audio, graphics, and subtitle files.
- Creating tracks & chapters
- Creating Multiple language Audio tracks
- Creating multiple camera angle video tracks
- Creating slideshows
- Using still menus, Adding buttons to menus
- Creating button high-lights using PhotoShop layers or graphic overlay image
- Linking assets to menu buttons
- Setting functions on remote control buttons.
- Setting a start up action
- Preview and testing DVD projects in DVD Studio.
- Building a project
- Previewing project in Apple DVD Player
- Recording to: DVD-R or DVD-RAM, or DLT tape
Day 2:
- Advanced DVD Authoring overview
- Creating a web menu & embedded web link.
- Adding buttons to video tracks.
- Creating & using stories
- Creating basic scripts
- Adding CSS encryption
- Using the Disc View Window
- Using the Matrix views in DVD studio Pro
- Apple A.Pack overview & surround sound creation
- Using Subtitle Editor (STE): for subtitle generation
- Overview of QuickTime MPEG Encoder & MPEG encoding
- Creating a still menu in Adobe PhotoShop
- Button highlight creation, Using Photo shop layers or Graphic overlay
- Creating a motion menu in Final Cut Pro
- DVD Duplication overview
Course Prerequisites
Previous Apple Mac experience is useful, as is some previous Adobe Photoshop experience.

Costs for attending DVD Studio Pro Courses at Planet PC's premises:-
DVD Studio Pro 2 Day Courses cost: £1,000 ex vat for one individual.
The cost for a further individual from the same company is an additional £300 ex vat.
Costs for training at your own business premises:-
On-site training costs vary depending on your location. Please contact Chris Waddington (contact details below) for a quotation.
DVD Studio Pro courses are held either on a One to One basis or for two individuals from the same company. Training is available at our premises or on site at your own business premises.
Courses run for two days from 10:00am to approximately 5:00pm on each day. Light lunch is included.
